About me

Anton Yaremchuk is a Ukrainian cinematographer and filmmaker, as well as the co-founder of the Ukrainian grassroots humanitarian initiative, Base UA. In 2015, his short film "Punti di Vista," which follows Ukrainian students during the Maidan Revolution, received the Generation Reporter 2015 award in Italy. He also filmed the segments set in the war zone for "A Rising Fury," a documentary that chronicles the events of modern Ukrainian history from the revolution to the full-scale invasion. The film had its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022. Anton served as the cinematographer for "Beyond Revolution – Fighting for Democracy," which was screened at the Human Rights Film Festival in 2022. This documentary is another notable example of his long-term documentation work, recounting over 5 years the story of civil society activists who transitioned into politicians following the revolutionary wave that brought more democratic forces into Ukraine's new parliament after the Maidan of Dignity. Since the beginning of the full scale invasion, Anton is based in Kramatorsk, situated approximately 28 kilometers from the active frontline. There, he coordinates humanitarian and cultural initiatives of Base UA and is engaged in a long-term film project that aims to convey the reality of war through a non-verbal audio-visual cinematic interpretation.
