Project Description
“The Girls From The Shop” brings the true extraordinary story of two women during the holocaust to life. Kitia and her soulmate Cesia would never have met because they are from different classes and backgrounds. One speaks only Polish, the other one Yiddish. One is booksmart, the other one street-wise. But they become friends and lovers in a shop in Poland where SS uniforms are made by jews. Their Schindler-alike boss Alfred Rossner from Saxony tries to rescue hundreds of jews that way. Kitia ist just around 18 and booksmart, Cesia in her mids 20s and streetwise. From 1940-1945 the drama series follows Kitia and Cesia - from the German occupation of Poland, to the ghettos and the Schindler-alike shop they work at. We are with them in Auschwitz, in a camp for women with nazi brothels and a secret underground rocket factory that is Hitler’s last hope to win the war. We tell their story until their liberation with so called white busses. An authentic story that will move all generations.
