Information

Dawn Porter’s career has traversed corporate law and executive producing, bringing her to direct her first documentary feature in 2013, followed by numerous highly acclaimed films and series, many of them history based, for ARTE, PBS, Netflix, and HBO.

She has mentored dozens of filmmakers and projects, keenly aware that despite stated commitments to diversity and inclusion, networks, platforms, and funders are cautious and slow.

Dawn has said “I don’t pretend to an objectivity that I don’t have” and no one is more aware of the current challenges facing the documentary field. She will share her thoughts on the potential for change that can deliver benefits throughout the doc community.

Dawn’s latest works, the four-part series "Deadlocked: How America Shaped the Supreme Court", premiered on Showtime September 22nd, and "The Lady Bird Diaries" for ABC News/Hulu is currently in festival release, premiering on Hulu in November.
