About me

Jigar Ganatra is an award-winning Indian-Tanzanian visionary Director and D.O.P whose eco-philosophical documentaries challenge humanity to reevaluate our connection to nature. His evocative works aim to preserve and celebrate the cultural richness and ecological diversity that is at the heart of our planet. A natural-born artist and storyteller, Jigar has made impactful films in collaboration with Indigenous communities around the world including in the teeming East African Savannah, the enchanting Amazon Rainforest, and the majestic peaks of the Himalayas. Through his lens, he captures the essence of these unique environments and their intrinsic connections to human existence. Beyond his extraordinary cinematic achievements, Jigar is the visionary founder of the African School of Storytelling (AFRISOS). His unwavering dedication to nurturing the next generation of African filmmakers and photographers is manifested through mentorship programs that empower aspiring talents to hone their skills and share their distinctive perspectives with the world.
