About me
Ivonne Serna is a Mexican documentary filmmaker, climate specialist, and author. With a strong educational foundation in Political Science and Environmental Studies from Middlebury College in the United States, she has built a career at the crossroads of environment, culture, and policy. Ivonne has worked extensively in LATAM, North America and Europe, connecting with organizations and communities to highlight important social and environmental issues. She's also successfully secured over $200,000 in grants, scholarships, and fellowships to support her work.
Throughout her career, Ivonne has held various roles in policy research, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination across NGOs, academia, and global initiatives, notably at the Ecology and Society Journal and the National Geographic Society. Currently, she's a freelance associate producer and researcher. Her first short film, "Sabor Y Amor," focused on the experiences of female migrants in Vermont and made its debut at VTIFF, won the third US-Mexico Bicentennial Kaleidoscope Award and is set for broadcast on VT Public.
Ivonne is deeply committed to social justice, advocacy, and climate action. Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, Ivonne is skilled in a range of areas including film production, project management, and community outreach. She's particularly dedicated to elevating the work of female and BIPOC filmmakers and creatives. Ivonne's mission is to create impactful stories that inform, inspire, and contribute to a more just and sustainable world. She is always open to collaborations that align with her passion for social justice and environmental sustainability.
