Barbara Butscher is a digital format developer and editor specializing in new media at Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR). She works on social media projects on YouTube, Instagram and Tiktok such as Hundert Hektar Heimat, Say What, Fakecheck and Wahrscheinlich Peinlich. Barbara was also on the editorial team for the fictional Series Irgendwas mit Medien for the ARD streaming platform ARD Mediathek. She also conducts workshops in social media for organizations such as the German-American Institute. Barbara gained journalistic experience in podcasting and radio at Detektor.fm and as a sports news anchor at MDR Aktuell, before she joined MDR in 2019. She holds a BA in German Studies from Leipzig University where she moved to from her home area near Lake Constance in 2013.
