About me

Gian Micalessin, is an Italian war correspondent working for “Il Giornale”, a daily national newspaper based in Milan. He is also contributor and pundit for various Italian TV news channel as Rai, Sky TG 24 and Mediaset. Gian Micalessin started his career in 1983 covering Afghan mujahedeen groups fighting against Soviet troops. Since then he has worked in the midst of the most dramatic events of the last four decades, covering dozens of conflicts (see list below). His articles, besides from “Il Giornale”, has been published from some of the most prestigious Italian and international newspapers. (Panorama, Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, Liberation, Der Spiegel, El Mundo, L’Express, Far Eastern Economic Review). Gian Micalessin's TV reports and documentaries have been broadcasted by Italian TVs and international networks (Cbs, Nbc, Channel 4, France 2, Tf1, Ndr, Tsi, Canale 5, Rai 1, Rai2). Since 2013 Gian Micalessin is teaching Foreign Policy at the Journalism Master’s Degree of “Università Cattolica” in Milan.
